    In your analysis you forgot the hype created by Riya CEO and the gossip about Google buying them. These well-engineered factors might greatly increase Riya's valuation and the VC money could be actually pretty cheap for them. It would be much harder to do that at the later stages after everyone realized that they do not match expectations. I believe that Riya made a smart move raising $19M.
